Susan Kechijian

What are you doing to fill your time at home during the Covid-19 pandemic?
Susan – “ I’m spending time outdoors, time online and the best part is being entertained by my 5 month old puppy!”
What was your initial inspiration to volunteer at RMH?
S- “Retirement and a desire to give back to the community. I found RMH very welcoming, friendly to all.”
What brings you the most satisfaction from volunteering at RMH?
S – “Giving back and seeing all the ways you can assist the families, whether it’s baking cookies, preparing a meal or assisting them at the front desk with questions or supplies they need.”
What are your dreams for the House?
S – “I would love to see expansion of the House so we can help more families who need it.”
What do you miss most about RMH while at home during Covid-19 disruption?
S – “The interaction of the people, all the people. Families, other volunteers and staff. It is such a welcoming place and the gratitude is so apparent. You can say thank you, and then you can really say thank you! That’s the way it is at RMH.”
What makes you laugh or smile at RMH?
S – “I love to see the faces of the children when interacting with pet therapy volunteers.”
How do you know that you are making an impact when volunteering at RMH?
S – “The gratitude and appreciation of the families when they are checking out. All the comments they make about how great RMH is and how much we helped them says it all. Hearing from them about how they don’t know what they would have done without RMH tells me how important RMH is to them.
I wish I would have found RMH earlier in life. It has brought so much satisfaction to me. Everyone is so friendly, and I feel that I am important to the House and the families.”
